mcp server setup - need help

I'm trying to set up the mcp server but mcphub give me this error.

'vectorcode-mcp-server' failed to start connection with http and sse transports: MCP error -32000: Connection **closed**

vectorcode-mcp-server is installed cause on command line i can find it an lunch it without problem

Hi, how are you using the MCP server? In other words, what's the MCP client you're using with it? The error message you posted looks like it's trying to connect to vectorcode via a http transport, but ATM vectorcode MCP server only supports stdio transport. This is mostly because I'm not quite sure how to handle the one-server-multiple-client case.

There was a bug a few versions ago, but I've patched it. If you're on the latest release of VectorCode(0.6.4 was out earlier today), try enabling logs and maybe we can find out more about the error (for the MCP server you may need to edit your mcp json to pass the env var).

Also, if you're using codecompanion, you can try the extension, which provides a more tailored experience for codecompanion. This is also how I use VectorCode with codecompanion.

The MCP server is the kind of thing that I implemented because it's cool and has great potential, but didn't end up using because it doesn't quite blend into my workflow.

Also, for the mcphub sudo thing, that's because when you use npm to perform a global install (-g), it defaults to install to your system path. Last time I checked, there's a config option in mcphub.nvim that does local installation, manages everything, and doesn't need sudo.

ok it only work with a standalone chromadb

Indeed. This is mostly because, if multiple vectorcode (CLI, lsp, mcp) processes all start their own chroma processes, it'll be very messy (potential race conditions in the database) and will slow down the system a lot (prob not by a lot on powerful machines, but I've spent a lot of time with VectorCode on a potato laptop, so I want to keep this project usable on low-spec systems).
