Subtitle alignment during video playback

Is there any way to change the subtitle alignment style?

Currently, it is centered, which makes it a headache trying to read them.
With each added word, the location of where you last read changes, causing you to lose the thread.

It would be better if it was possible to change it according to personal preferences: captions show from left to right, centering, etc.

Also nice if subtitles could be set outside the video, not on it ...
