HEBI Mobile IO app could not connect to Daisy

We are currently working on the daisy robot. We just realized the problem that the new version of HEBI Mobile IO ios version app could not connect to the daisy robot.

The robot says it could not find the io joy stick.

We did some experiments.

Some of us got the ios version app several 5 months ago. We could always connect to the robot with no problem, even after the update of the app from app store.

But newly installed ios version app are not able to connect to the robot, nerther for iPhone nor iPad. We suspect that the update of the app made something changed.

The default name of the module in the application changed from Virtual IO to Mobile IO sometime around 5 months ago. Are you sure that you have the correct name configured on your iPad as well as in the code itself?

Yes, we made sure all the mobile device are named "Mobile IO".

A couple of questions:

• Could you open Scope on a computer that is connected to the hexapod network and no other network (ideally on the actual hexapod PC) and verify that the "Mobile IO" app shows up as expected on it? What shows up for the users with non-updated versions? What shows up for the users with newer updates? Note that you can set this from the app's settings as well as Scope on the new versions.
• You may need to change this name once on the new version of the app to trigger the settings to update properly.
• Make sure the name shown in Scope exactly matches the name that the code on the hexapod is looking for:

No good.

• I have tried it on the Hexapod PC. With both newly-installed app and old ones on ios system.(they are connected to hebi_robot wifi separately). The olds pop up correctly in scope. But the newly-installed app does not show up in scope.

• I tried to change the app name in setting. The Setting is correct by default. Is should be "Family":"HEBI", "Name":"Mobile IO". I changed it and changed back. still not working.

• I checked the the code. This line in intact. And it should be because old version app works.
• I suspect it is the app causing the issue.

Sorry for the trouble you're having here. It looks like the app isn't showing up in Scope at all.

Unfortunately, we are not able to reproduce the issue on any of the iPads or iPhones that we have in the offices. I've looked through the code changes between the versions, and nothing affected this component of the app, either.

The one thing I can think of that we've seen a couple of times before but haven't isolated a cause is that when you start the app, it is not visible in Scope. It would not surprise me if this happened after an upgrade of the app for some reason. To fix this, we reboot the iOS device (not just tap the power button, but actually do a full shutdown and startup). Have you already tried this when debugging the issue?

Additional information that would be useful:

• What are the iphone/ipad version of the devices that are working? That are not?

If you are still having trouble with this, I can drop by CMU in the next day or so and try to help debug.

• iPhone 7P + ios 11.4
• iPhone X + ios 11.4
• iPad Pro + ios 12.1

Devices not working:

• iPhone X + ios 12.2
• iPhoneX + ios 11.4
• iPad Pro + ios 12.1

We are still having trouble in this so I would appreciate it if you could come by someday to solve it.
