dat.gui does not natively support file import but it should be possible to open a dialog box with a button. So we could add this feature, but is it really necessary?

I think that it's two different projects with different goals.
For my part I think we should use an external package for this feature, regardless of whether we use this one or not.

It seems dat.gui.image is a very recent package, it may be unstable. Furthermore, textures are an integral part of Three.js ecosystem, for this reason I think we could implement this feature internally.

Texture is a part of Three.js ecosytem but file uploading is not a part of dat.GUI ecosystem. That's why I think another package should be developed beside this one and add as dependency.
The biggest advantage would be to use this external package dedicated to file upload without having to load Three-Dat.GUI for projects that do not require it.
