Description

This is driving me nuts. I've searched but couldn't find other threads pointing this out, but I might have searched poorly.

This happens for me on the standard Brave build as well as beta and nightly.

The video I attached shows the problem very clearly.

The bottom 'tab group bar' (don't know if that's what it's called officially) will often show up when I'm not even viewing that tab group. It takes up space on the screen and you can't even interact with it. If you tap it it just registers as a tap on whatever is on the page beneath the tab group bar UI.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Have two tabs open, neither in groups. We'll call them tab A and tab B.
  2. In tab A, open a link in a new tab and create a tab group.
  3. Now view Tab B. The tab group bar from tab A will be visible.

Actual result

Explained above.

Expected result

You shouldn't see the tab group bar when not viewing that group.

Reproduces how often

Easily reproduced

Brave version

1.84.133

Also tested on Brave nightly 1.86.58

Device

  • Brand/model: Samsung s23+
  • Android version: 15

Channel information

  • release (stable)
  • beta
  • nightly

Reproducibility

  • with Brave Shields disabled
  • with Brave Rewards disabled
  • in the latest version of Chrome

Miscellaneous information

I tried it on fresh installs of the beta and nightly builds where I made no changes to the settings, so I'm guessing it'll be easy to reproduce.
