Is script supposed to overwrite 'dotnet' cli command when a newer channel is installed?

I had channels 8 and 9 with dotnet --version reporting 9.xx. After installing channel 10.0 (dotnet-install.sh --channel 10.0), dotnet was still the 9 one (not overwritten). I wonder, is script supposed to overwrite it?
After that I've removed 10.0 sdk, deleted dotnet and installed channel 10.0 once more, this time I've got correct dotnet version.
On Linux.
