HAL is the codename for the release coordination of a management console that can be used across products. The core management console supports extensions for layered products. These extensions are realized as compile time addons that are pulled in as maven dependencies. The core management console provides an SPI for extensions to be declared and integrated at build time. To simplify the distribution of extensions across products, HAL provides a release stream, that contains all extensions that products might rely on. Extensions are only activated if their corresponding runtime services / subsystems are available.
