Images reload when navigating back to cached post with images

When navigating between /blog and posts with images, the images keep visibly reloading. Would it be possible to have them automatically prefetched and cached?

Repro:

1. Go to https://hellotham.github.io/hello-astro/blog/
2. Click "Sample images post"
3. Go back
4. Repeat from step 2

Thanks for the video, I see what you mean.

Unfortunately, the image lightshow is generated dynamically using Photoswipe in JS, so it is code that runs afresh when the page is rendered.

Having said that, I don't see any reason why the gallery itself can't be prerendered, so I'll play with it and see what I can do.

Thanks for the quick turn-around. I still see the images load visibly in the live demo... I think my expectations were shaped by Gatsby, whose image gallery displays instantly after back navigation in the demo store.

That's interesting - the images are definitely cached for me when I revisit the page, and looking at the code, it should definitely be statically prerendered. Perhaps this is a CDN issue?

One thing to point out - the site does not act as a SPA, ie. smooth transitions between pages. This can be enabled in Astro, and the code used to implement it, but I've disabled it in favour of classic routing.
