Fix GitHub actions deprecations (#7)

* bump actions/cache and actions/checkout to v3

* bump SDK test number

* avoid macos-latest warning (for now by specifically targetting macos-12)

* update readme

* Update ci.yml

* bump to actions/cache@v4

* reverting readme to v1.1.1
