KPT installation with unknown version

Hi there!
I'm installing kpt using homebrew by following the instructions on: https://kpt.dev/installation/kpt-cli

brew tap kptdev/kpt https://github.com/kptdev/kpt.git
brew install kpt

this works fine, but when I run

kpt version

I get unknown instead of a version number.

Any one that could help?

This is documented behaviour for binaries built from source - see towards the bottom of https://kpt.dev/installation/kpt-cli

This is likely because the version number is set during the kpt release process and is therefore not set anywhere during a normal "build-from-source" off main. I am looking into the release process so will revert with more information on this later. I guess it would be good to know what the "latest" version you are building off the main source branch is, even if you are not cutting an actual release, so I think we should fix this.
