Object Explosion via Geometry Shader

Code Name: ObjectExplosion

Description

In this example, the 3D model rendered in the scene is broken down and reassembled over time repeatedly using a geometry shader, creating a simple explosion effect.

Output

Controls

Input Action
W/A/S/D Move the camera
Mouse Look around with the camera
Esc Close the window

Application Parameters

Settings

Parameter / Key Type Usage in Code Description Default Value
AppSettings.ClearColor VkClearColorValue AppSettings::ClearColor Background color of the screen
AppSettings.MouseSensitivity float AppSettings::MouseSensitivity Mouse sensitivity value
AppSettings.CameraSpeed float AppSettings::CameraSpeed Speed of the camera

Learning Objectives

  • Learn how to use geometry shaders to expand triangles away from their original positions
  • Explore techniques for decomposing and reassembling 3D models using geometry shaders
