Installation issue

"Hi,

I keep getting this error message every time I try to install Npcap: 'Failed to create the npcap service: 0x8007007e'. It never works, no matter what I do.

I've tried everything:

• Reinstalling it many times.
• Turning off Windows Defender / security completely.
• Downloading and installing the C++ redistributables and other libraries.
• Running the installer as Administrator every time.
• Using the latest installer from the official website.

Nothing works. The program refuses to install or run at all.

I'm using Windows 11 Pro, 64 bit

Please help, I'm stuck."

I'm encountering the same issue. My system is Windows 11, 22H2, Pro for Workstations edition.

I installed a winpcap instead of npcap and it's working fine, but (another problem) Gns3 can't listen the vm and the vm can get an ip without no problem

Open regedit (Win + R → type regedit).

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID.

delete the problematic key 3d09c1ca-2bcc-40b7-b9bb-3f3ec143a87b

Reinstall Npcap
Close the Registry Editor.

Run the Npcap installer again with default settings
