It would be cool to be able to surround using Line breaks/feeds/Carriage returns by using the <C-v> bind and then inputting the return key. At the moment it just inputs ^M literally. AFAIK currently the only way to do this is to make your own custom surround

As it is worded now, the described functionality is already what is done in 'mini.surround'. Pressing <CR> inserts carriage return verbatim, i.e. \r character which Neovim shows as ^M. The same thing with \n and pressing <C-j>.

The actual problem here is that as of now, it (surrounding with <C-j>) is not quite useful when it comes to indented text, as it won't be preserved. See also #1758.

I've been meaning to add a custom <CR> surrounding for new-line that preserves indent, but it is not the highest priority right now. And also it poses a problem of what exactly to do with indentation: increasing indent of each line in the surrounded region does not fit in 'mini.surround' design, while just copying indent fits in the design but not sure how useful it is.

Let's keep this issue as tracking this for a while.
