Parsing AWS Lambda Metrics & Trace | http/x-protobuf

Hey guys,

i am trying to parse metrics & traces received from AWS lambda auto-instrument sent to my custom endpoint;
I have tried to use the steps here in python;

    try:
        msg_len, new_pos = _DecodeVarint32(body, 0)
        msg_buf = body[new_pos : new_pos + msg_len]
        request = metrics_service_pb2.ExportMetricsServiceRequest()
        request.ParseFromString(msg_buf)
        print("request", request)

    except Exception as e:
        print(f"ERROR parsing {str(e)}")
    
    return {"result": "ok"}

But this seems to fail at parsing the message itself
