GPX line width

Hi,
I use Organic Maps to follow multi-day preplanned routes (GPX). I load the entire GPX track, select a point on the track (normally the daily destiation or a petrol station) and ask the OM to create a route and navigate to this point. Whenever the route drawn by OM deviates from the GPX track I simply follow the track and OM recalculates the route accordingly. This system works pretty well for me BUT the GPX track line is very tiny and sometimes hard to see. on the map.
Could you, please, make the GPX track line as wide as the route line in navigation mode or at least as wide as the roads on the map.

If we make all tracks as wide as in your first screenshot, Organic Maps becomes unusable.

The main issue you're experiencing is the lack of "navigate the imported/saved/recorded track" functionality. When it is implemented, you won't need to increase the width of all displayed tracks. Please follow #1360

You are absolutely right about the missing "navigate the imported/saved/recorded track" functionality. BUT, even if it is implemented in the future my method works perfectly fine and is in fact more convenient in some ways. I am using navigation mostly on a motorcycle and sometimes I deviate slightly from the GPX track but would still like tol be able to see it. In most "navigate track" (OSMand, for exemple) implementations as soon as a route is created by the app based on the track the track itself is no longer visible. Because of that it is impossible to see if the new route follows the track 100% and what decisions the routing algoritm makes in case of deviation. Therefore it is best to have both the track and the route created based on it displayed simultaneously. In that scenario having the track line with the same width as the route but in different colour (already imlemented as a setting) is the best possible option as I can choose to either follow the track or the route if they split.

The first screenshot is at the maximum zoom-in. As I mentoned in my first post, at zoom-out overview mode when a wider line would make it unusable it is already perfect and needs no change. The problem with the track width is that it doesn't change with zoom and gets relatively smaller and smaller while the map, the roads and the route line get bigger an bigger in navigation mode. Making it match the route line in different zoom levels and in navigation mode would be perfect.

I have seen the 1360 thread, which is already 4 years old, but as I mentioned, my method is much easier to implement by simply making the GPX track line width to change dynamically (even manually in the setings - similar to the colour option) and it is also more functional, in my opinion.

We need to make tracks more prominent/visible on the map, but it requires improvements on the Drape graphics rendering side. Do you have any good examples from other apps, where tracks have good visibility without being too wide/obscuring everything on the screen?

Simple.

As in gpx track transparancy color and width.

• The color in gpx is expressed by #AARRGGBB.
• The color in kml is expressed by AABBGGRR !!
• The width in app GUI is mostly expressed as px (= dp)
  In practice px so means dp or dip unit.
  Stands for density independant pixel.
  Width in gpx and kml is identical.

Example gpx. (OsmAnd compatible)

The calculated line is shown by a custom in app setting.
Example Set: Blue line color plus width 12 px = 12 dp !!

• The import track overlay can have any color any width.
• The track line reference overlay is usually smaller than the ticker calculated line.
  Set your favorite track color and width in the app or
  Use the track data (if attached) in the import gpx file.
  In the above gpx display a red track and width 6 px = 6 dp !!

Track overlay means the trackline is displayed on top of the calculated line.

Yes, I've been using OSMand for more than 10 years now. It's infinitely configurable but also buggy, heavy on the battery and the graphics have never been smooth on any phone.

Anyway, in OSMand I can set a "basic" GPX track width manually (0 to 24) and then when zooming in or out it increases or decreases at the same rate as the rest of the map and roads. If I set it manually to be of equal width as the roads it then remains at equal width with the roads at any zoom level. In OSMand I can also configure the route line in a similar manner and can make them bot (the route and the track be the same width but different colour - the last screenshot where the route is blue with direction arrows and the GPX track is magenta ( as in all previous screenshots).
