I think adding intermediate sharable badges integrated through acclaim is a cool idea, not super urgent.
Benefits:

• Great encouraging factor, especially making it shareable on linked in.
• We already have a badge system that looks like acclaim.
• Demonstrates knowledge in that particular field.
