Request size is larger than the configured max

Leaving this here for reference.

If you see the following message in your server logs:

INFO  2025-10-09 19:03:49,698 [shard 0:main] kafka - server.cc:181 - Disconnected 10.254.0.24:61846 (applying protocol, invalid request: request size {369295621} is larger than the configured max 104857600)

The log message was not very helpful. It did not indicate what I needed to change.

I was able to fix the problem by adjusting the kafka_request_max_bytes cluster property:

rpk cluster config set kafka_request_max_bytes 419430400

Thanks SunSparc. Agreed that it'd be nice to have a reference to the configuration option in the log message.
