RuntimeError: Error: expected a string in (...), got '2D_UNIFORM_COLOR' when installing Ubisoft Shot Manager V2.1.43 on Blender 4.x #65

Description

@madjyc

Hi! I've been trying to install Ubisoft Shot Manager V2.1.43 on Blender 3.2/4.0/4.4 for a couple of days to no avail.

Infos on the context

  • Add-on version: Ubisoft_ShotManager_V2-1-43.zip
  • Blender version: blender-4.4.0-windows-x64.msi
  • Blender was launched in Admin mode? Yes
  • OS: Windows 11 Family v10.0.26100 Build 23100
  • Bug was also on previous versions: Yes, seen on Blender 3.2 and 4.0.

Describe the bug
I'm getting an error message (see screenshot below) when installing Ubisoft_ShotManager_V2-1-43.zip from disk on Blender 4.x Preferences > Add-ons. Blender 3.2 just crashes when I'm ticking the box to enable 'Ubisoft Shot Manager' and won't start again until I manually remove the 'shotmanager' directory in C:\Users<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\3.2\scripts\addons.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Downlod Ubisoft_ShotManager_V2-1-43.zip from the github page: https://github.com/ubisoft/shotmanager/releases/tag/v2.1.43.
  2. Run Blender 4.4 as Administrator (right-click > Execute as Administrator).
  3. Install Ubisoft_ShotManager_V2-1-43.zip via Edit > Preferences... > Add-ons > Install from Disk...
I instantly get an error message (see screenshot below) about a string mismatch.

Expected behavior
The first time I tried installing Ubisoft_ShotManager_V2-1-43.zip on Blender 3.2 (as admin), it didn't crash straight away. Instead, two dependencies were reported to be missing (sorry I can only recall of 'pillow'). Ticking the box to enable the plug-in made Blender 3.2 crash and I could never get these error messages displayed again despite removing/reinstalling the add-on, Blender 3.2 just crashes. I was expecting to read these error messages to give me a chance to install these dependencies manually from the Scripting > Python Console.

Screenshots
Here is a screenshot of the installation error message I get on Blender 4.4 (same on 4.0, just crashes on 3.2):

Additional context
Running Blender on an Acer Nitro 5 AN517-41 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H) laptop.

Please let me know if you need further information. I'd really love this plugin to work on my machine, looks amazing ;-)!
