Just migrated from Postman after it wiped all my collections — and why Bruno feels like coming home

Hey Bruno team 👋

Today was... eventful.

I opened Postman to continue my usual API workflow and was greeted with:

Turns out, a major AWS outage took down Postman’s internal services and all my local collections vanished. Not "sync failed", not "try again later". Gone.
(And yes, their status page was completely green while thousands of devs stared at empty workspaces.)

I trusted Postman as a local dev tool. But it’s not local. It’s a SaaS that just looks like a desktop app. And when your workflow depends on AWS uptime, you’re not in control anymore.

So I did what any sane dev would do: Migrated to Bruno.

And honestly? It feels like coming home.

• My collections are just files in a folder. I see them, I version them, I back them up.
• No cloud surprises. No "fresh start" roulette.
• Variables, environments, JSON payloads — everything I need, without the bloat.
• And the best part: it works offline, because it’s actually local-first.

I’ve already rebuilt my critical API flows, fixed a bug, and deployed to staging — all while Postman users are still waiting for AWS to "come back".

To the Bruno team: thank you for building a tool that respects developers' time, data, and sanity.
You're restoring trust in local tooling.

P.S. If you're reading this and still on Postman, export your collections now. Seriously. Before "fresh start" happens to you too.

I totally agree! While Bruno still has some rough edges in the GUI, it perfectly gets the job done! The majority of my colleagues is still on Postman but I will start recommending alternatives like Bruno or Yaak as often as possible to at least create awareness for the other options out there :)

I use my Postman Terraform Provider to auto-generate my Postman collections from the live OpenAPI Spec and to generate all of my Postman tests from yml files committed to my GIT repo. Therefore, I can rebuild all my Postman collections using Terraform on the next CI/CD pipeline run.

HOWEVER, I too have just switched to Bruno and have replicated all of my Postman automation by writing a new Bruno Terraform Provider and Terraform Module.
