TPAC Schedule Ideas

On Thursday 13 November, the Sustainable Web IG will have a full day session at W3C TPAC 2025.
We have the following sessions scheduled (Tokyo Time):

• Sustainable Web IG (Meeting) 9:00AM - 12:30PM
• Sustainable Web IG, Web Performance Working Group (Joint Meeting) 13:45PM - 15:00PM
• Sustainable Web IG, Accessibility Guidelines Working Group (Joint Meeting) 15:30PM - 16:45PM

Please use the comments section below to submit you ideas and suggestions for what topics we should include within our allotted space to make the most of the event. Also, if there are any questions/ideas you would like us to propose to the two working groups (perfomance/accessibility) we will be meeting, or any other working groups you think we need to outreach to, feel free to mention those below as well!

@TzviyaSiegman maybe you'll cover this in the call today, but could you give us first timers an idea of the kinda of material that might be covered in the cross-group meetings?

Doesn't have to be specific, but just a general idea or examples from other groups you've been part of.

@fershad we discussed in today's meeting. Generally, meetings with other groups are to discuss overlaps or for advice from groups with experience in areas that we don't have. We may want to identify the web perf items and ask that group to review for accuracy/thoroughness.

For the web perf folks, I'd like to check with them to see if there's awareness of the sustainability benefits in many of the webperf practices.

If not, we could help them with that.

If they are aware, then we can see if there are collaboration opportunities for refining the WSG and evangelizing. Maybe there are opportunities to collaborate on articles, presentations, reviews of each group's work.

@jenstrickland in addition, I'd like to make sure that we are aligned with web perf - make sure that we point to the right docs, and they can point to us, that we haven't left anything out

@TzviyaSiegman an area I'd like to explore (could be together, could be in informal meetings on the side) is around that idea of alignment and possibly a sustainability through performance story. Right now, we lack quantitative data for many guidelines which is something that web perf is strongly built around. It's something that's come up when the idea of adding carbon figures in Google Lighthouse was floated.

I guess the rough question would be "in lieu of much quantitative data, what could we provide that might help mount a stronger case for the sustainability through performance story."

I think the same question could be asked for the accessibility group as well.
