Hello,

I’m trying to understand the current and future support landscape for Scoped Custom Elements.

Specifically:

1. Is there any known timeline for when Scoped Custom Elements will be natively available across all major browsers?
2. Beyond this polyfill, are there any production-ready implementations or approaches that work consistently across all browsers today?
3. Are there recommended patterns for teams that want scoped registries behavior in fully cross-browser environments?

This is not a bug report — I’m looking for guidance on long-term viability and cross-browser strategy before adopting this in a production environment.

Any insights into roadmap, standardization status, or real-world cross-browser usage would be greatly appreciated.

1. Is there any known timeline for when Scoped Custom Elements will be natively available across all major browsers?

Scope custom element registries is included in interop 2026 (caniuse).

• Safari: shipped in version 26
• Chrome: shipping, I think, in 146 or 147
• Firefox: issue

2. Beyond this polyfill, are there any production-ready implementations or approaches that work consistently across all browsers today?

This polyfill isn't recommended for production, but it should work consistently in major modern browsers. It will be updated to the latest version of the spec after Chrome ships.

3. Are there recommended patterns for teams that want scoped registries behavior in fully cross-browser environments?

Until consistent platform support arrives via interop 2026, I would strongly recommend developers understand and evaluate the trade offs and decide what works for the use cases. Other than using the polyfill, it is possible (but limiting and cumbersome) to define and use unique element names when name conflicts exist.
