What if we use just canonical for the field name? I think it would be simpler. What do you think?

i think its normally called canonical url, in medium and other platforms

This is a small pr to add an option set a custom canonical URL.
Useful when cross posting personal posts from forums and so on.
I can open another PR to update the docs repo if this is accepted.
