Description

Nathan has released a new version of intake-esgf with support for pandas>=3 https://anaconda.org/channels/conda-forge/packages/intake-esgf/files - see Changelog https://github.com/esgf2-us/intake-esgf/releases/tag/v2026.1.26

@bouweandela this should be good to go - I had to crank up the min no output time for Circle tests - the new Pandas are really not happy with any/some of those r-stuff and NCL we try installing in the full dev environment. I don't guarantee that those two tests they'll not go over 30min mark ever, though - hopefully they'll rebuild NCL or r-crap soon so things will hopefully get better 🍻

I'm a bit pessimistic about NCL: I've had a look if I could fix the build a while ago, but it's not compiling with recent compilers because they are less forgiving. Maybe it can still be compiled by disabling the new checks, but at some point the code is just not good enough anymore.

I'm a bit pessimistic about NCL: I've had a look if I could fix the build a while ago, but it's not compiling with recent compilers because they are less forgiving. Maybe it can still be compiled by disabling the new checks, but at some point the code is just not good enough anymore.

we really have to just remove NCL from our direct deps list - leave it to users that need it to run NCL recipes to install it themselves
