Draft PR to decide whether to bring some changes to separate PR early, before native IO feature is ready to review.
So far, the changes to keep compatible with JUCE 8 should be merged in at the same time if the PR for our JUCE forks is merged, so everything can build against our customized JUCE 8 fork.
