Moving the first response one unit to the right makes it sound a lot better to me and also greatly improves playability. I don't know the original authors or their intentions but I'm pretty sure that was a mistake in transcribing the tune.

The video is a bit unclear on this part, watching it again I'd say one agogo is playing four hits as the response and the snare is playing it as I am suggesting, bit it is nor really clear. Could be a combination of some players trying to play what the sheet and ror-player suggests and others playing what I believe is the intended tune? I still think the three hits moved one unit to the right is the most likely version because transcribing the wrong number of hits is less likely compared to putting them in a slightly wrong position. |
