test(expo): add the Expo host of the e2e tests, their CI, and the verify-clerk-expo skill - #10237
Conversation
The fixture in integration/templates/expo-native reads launch inputs whose names start with verify, and always renders one home with a button for each screen a test needs. modules/verify-launch-config reads the inputs on iOS and Android. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
src/host.ts tells the shared core how to build the expo-native fixture, install it, and launch it on a simulator or an emulator, on this machine or on a borrowed CI runner. src/native-build.ts keys a native build on what decides it and puts new JS into a kept build. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…o a session verify-e2e.yml runs every e2e test on an iOS simulator and an Android emulator for a pull request that is ready for review. verify-remote.yml boots one device on a runner for a session that a developer or an agent starts by workflow_dispatch. Both take a native build that an earlier run of the same branch kept, through bin/fetch-native-build.sh. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…t job The package installs its own dependencies with npm ci from its own lockfile, outside the pnpm workspace. The Expo Native Runner Tests job runs its unit tests and tsc when a pull request changes it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

…-ios and clerk-android Every file in this commit is a byte copy of the same path under e2e-tests/ on main of clerk/clerk-ios or clerk/clerk-android, except three. specs/app.ts names this repository's test app, src/platform/ios/simulator.ts holds its simctl commands, and test/session-agent.test.ts is the shared test without its one case that names the app sources of clerk-ios. src/core/MANIFEST lists the shared files with their hashes, and a unit test fails when one drifts. .claude/skills/verify-clerk-expo/ is the instructions an agent or a developer reads to prove a @clerk/expo change on a device, and .cursor/skills/verify-clerk-expo links to it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…an them The tests in integration/tests/expo-native drove the home that the fixture no longer has. The integration/expo-native package, later in this stack, has a test for each of their flows. The Expo workflow keeps its native build jobs, now named Native Build. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Each test starts at the fixture's home and taps to the screen it needs, as a user would. specs/native.ts holds the locators of the home's buttons. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

- Line 22: Update the Node version requirement in the “Install Node 24” setup
instruction to require Node 24.15 or newer, and apply the same minimum in the
integration README so both setup guides agree with the project requirement.
- Line 247: Update the `attach` hand-off flow so it cannot report evidence as
publishable unless the `verify-attach` publisher is included and available;
otherwise, explicitly mark hand-off as unsupported and fail instead of
instructing users to run `down` expecting publication.
Review comments at @integration/expo-native/src/host.ts:
- Around line 526-532: Wrap the complete withCleanup call in host.runtime with
withFixtureLock, keeping stopRuntime, the callback, and failure cleanup inside
the lock. Hold the lock through ensureWatch, ensureMetro, and ensureServed so
concurrent platform runtime setup cannot overlap.

Copies the shared harness fixes from clerk/clerk-ios#738 and the Android lane fix from clerk/clerk-android#1153: - exec: SIGKILL 2 s after SIGTERM on timeout; a failed ps no longer reads as an exited process. - doctor --live: a failed read while ending the run becomes a failed live-stop check, and the session token is still removed. - iOS doctor skips lane-ports when Xcode is missing; Android release ignores ESRCH so the slot is freed. - session agent matches the recorder's start words case-insensitively. - e2e inputs refuse a dev server with a borrowed Android emulator. An iOS and an Android `up` in one worktree take different acquire locks, so both could reach host.runtime at once: two tsdown watches, two writers of built-dependencies.json, and a rebuild that stops the other lane's Metro. runtime() now runs under the fixture lock that build() already takes. The local setup in the skill and the README now asks for Node 24.15, which pnpm install in this repository requires. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

…its output run() resolved only on close, and close waits for the stdout and stderr pipes. A command that leaves a background child holding those pipes kept the timeout pending until that child exited, even after SIGKILL. The kill timer now destroys both streams, so the call returns 124. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The fixture reads its launch inputs when the JS bundle first runs. On Android the module read them from currentActivity, which React Native only sets in onHostResume, so a fast launch could read an empty map and show the missing publishable key screen. Capture the extras in an Expo activity lifecycle listener at onCreate instead, and throw if they were never captured rather than returning an empty map. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The timeout can fire before sh prints the background child's pid, and
the forced kill drops stdout, so the test could read an empty string.
Number('') is 0, and process.kill(0) signals the whole process group,
the test runner included. The cleanup also ran after the assertions, so
a failed assertion left the child sleeping. Clean up in finally, signal
only a positive integer pid, and ignore a child that already exited.

…up script boot-ios-simulators.sh only writes simulator defaults, so it is now configure-ios-simulators.sh without the unused wait verb. The e2e job gets a name so its check does not change with the runner variable, and fixture.ts names the SDK template once.
Description
This is the third of four pull requests that replace the eleven of stack #10100. It sits on #10236, and #10238 sits on it. It holds the parts of #10087, #10090, and #10131 that are this repository's own, apart from the e2e tests in #10236.
With this pull request,
integration/expo-native/bin/control-clerk-exporuns. It builds theexpo-nativefixture from #10235 on SDK 58, takes a simulator or an emulator, creates a Clerk development application for the worktree, runs the e2e tests from #10236, and keeps a video, screenshots, and logs of each run. On a machine that cannot run the device, it borrows one on a GitHub Actions runner. CI runs every e2e test on both platforms for a pull request that is ready for review.Paths that begin

verify-e2e.ymlstarts on a pull request tomainthat changes the package, the fixture, or an Expo package, and by hand. A draft, a pull request from a fork, and a repository without the secret get a notice and no device job. The device job runs the pull request's code withcontents: read, actions: read, andpull-requests: write, and givesMOBILE_VERIFICATION_PLATFORM_API_KEYonly to the steps that callup, run, anddown. It uploads evidence only when the CLI found no secret value in the run.verify-e2e.ymlkeeps the native app it built as an artifact for seven days, named by its native fingerprint. A later job, or a session, takes one only from a run of the same branch of this repository, never from a fork. Artifacts of this repository are public, so a session stores none of its own.verify-remote.ymlstarts only byworkflow_dispatch, which needs write access. It uses no secret, and its jobs havecontents: read, withactions: readadded for the session job. A session builds the pushed commit, or that commit with the uncommitted changes to the app sources that the CLI sends as one patch. Every route of its tunnel needs a bearer token that the CLI made. The tunnel is a Cloudflare quick tunnel, so Cloudflare can read the traffic, which includes sign-in tickets for test users of an application thatdowndeletes.src/native-build.tsexports the JS from the checkout, compiles it with the fixture'shermesc, and puts it in a copy of a kept app. The build fails unless the app then holds exactly that bundle.npm testinintegration/expo-native/passes 917 of 917 on this branch, andnpm run typecheckis clean.
