Summary of Changes

Hello @baptmont, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request introduces a dedicated AutoMigrate function within the session/database package. Its primary purpose is to programmatically set up and update database tables for session management, addressing a previously identified issue where the necessary database schema was not being correctly initialized. This change provides a robust and standardized mechanism for database schema management for the session service.

Highlights

  • New AutoMigrate Function: A new AutoMigrate function has been added to the session/database package. This function leverages GORM's auto-migration capabilities to ensure the database schema aligns with the internal storage models (storageSession, storageEvent, storageAppState, storageUserState).
  • Type Assertion for Service: The AutoMigrate function accepts a session.Service interface and performs a type assertion to *databaseService. It returns an error if the provided service is not of the expected concrete type.
  • Test Helper Update: The emptyService test helper in session/database/service_test.go has been updated to utilize the newly introduced AutoMigrate function, ensuring consistency and proper schema setup during testing.

Code Review

This pull request introduces a helpful AutoMigrate function to the database package for setting up database tables. The implementation is clean, and the accompanying documentation clearly explains its dependency on the concrete databaseService type. The test suite has been appropriately updated to use this new function, and I noticed you also improved safety by replacing an unsafe type assertion with a safe one, which is a great enhancement. I have one minor suggestion to align an error message with common Go formatting conventions.
