Podman support

I am using podman for dev and prod and would like to not fight the cli because of that.

It should be possible to use some kind of compatibility layer for both docker and podman.

Describe alternatives you've considered

It might be a solution to switch to helm charts for local development but i don't have too much experience with kubernetes.

Without having had a deeper look into it, I have a feeling that supporting podman/podman-compose shouldn't be too hard, since AFAIK the CLI follows the docker/docker compose structure pretty closely?
Perhaps something like a PodmanHelper could be added [1], and then wired up in a similar fashion to uv/pnpm back in the day [2].

Just out of curiosity: Are you running InvenioRDM with podman? Did it take a lot of changes to make it work?

Hi and sorry for taking so long... I am running invenio on rootless podman quadlets and it didn't take too many changes but i wasn't able to use the invenio-cli for that. For local development it works fine with podman-compose up last time I checked.
