hi there, I'm Julien! 👋🏻

I lead the Low-Dimensional Electronics research group at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, Germany. We study quantum transport in graphene and other van der Waals heterostructures to control electrons in low dimensional systems, and combine it with mid-IR microscopy and near-field photovoltage to probe and control which defect states gets in our devices.

I previously worked at ICFO in Barcelona and at the University of Manchester. I am still happy to be at the bench: building setups and measuring low-temperature electron transport. I also write the code that runs our experiments, and I am building a group that does the same.

what I'm working on

  • mpiLDE: the group's open-source code and lab-automation tools.
  • mesoscopy: a GUI for running experiments, see the latest blog post below.
  • Building the team: I am always interested in hearing from motivated students and postdocs, see open positions.
