I merge in 0.3-kan branch to fix the remaining issues and conflicts.

To my understanding, this PR is solely intended to migrate the codebase to the new 0.3-kan branch. On this basis, I approve the changes.

Note: spline.py has already been fixed in previous PRs, and no further modifications should be required. You may consider removing the file either before or after merging into 0.3-kan.
