Use as popup view alternative

I've a sidebar app that does not use an activity but draws over other apps. Is it possible to use this library in my app if I can't provide an activity context? Or is this activity context essentiell?

If you can show me part of code I can understand better what you trying to do, btw activity context is required..

Here's what I basically do:

• I create a view, my sidebar. It functions like a drawer (it shows apps and reacts to long presses, currecntly I show a popup view on long press)
• I add the view to the WindowManager like following:

 ((WindowManager) getContext().getSystemService(Context.WINDOW_SERVICE)).addView(view, lp);

• I show a PopupMenu for a view like following: new PopupMenu(view.getContext(), view)

So I'm technically doing the same as a normal launcher, but my views are attached to the WindowManager and not to an activity.

I know your current code forces me to use an activity context, but is this necessary? Any place in code where you depend on the activity context and a normal context wouldn't do it?

I've now checked the code myself. The activity can be exchanged with a context most of the time with some small adjustments.

Is there any reason why your builders depend on a grid? Couldn't we just pass in an anchor view and calculate it's relative position in it's parent view based on this?

I haven't done this in my library because my works moved to launcher, but you can easly modify it
