Raid Guild: The Last Mile

A tiny point-and-click adventure about finding Raid Guild and becoming a member.

This project is separate from the original game files in ../Kings_Quest/. The King’s Quest resources and AGI research notes remain there unchanged.

Current stage: two playable rooms. Repair the walker at the waystation, accept Rook's ride, then use the notebook to set the crossing's transit route. Progress autosaves locally; old first-room saves migrate automatically. The workshop and membership ending remain to be built.

Run locally

Requires Node.js 20.19+ or 22.12+ (a current supported Node release is preferable).

cd /home/skuhl/Documents/ody/scratch/raid-guild-the-last-mile
npm ci
npm run dev -- --port 4173

Open http://localhost:4173. The Vite server binds to the local machine's network interfaces for preview; no public deployment has been made.

Open http://localhost:4173/sprites.html to preview the traveler's four directions, six walking frames, and standing poses, with pause and playback-speed controls.

npm test # Puzzle, save, and animation selection tests
npm run test:e2e # Browser playthroughs; starts its own dev server
npm run build # Type-check and static production build in dist/
npm run preview -- --port 4173 # Serve the built game

Browser tests use /usr/bin/google-chrome when present, or Playwright Chromium otherwise. Install the latter with npx playwright install chromium if needed. An alternative browser executable can be set through PLAYWRIGHT_CHROMIUM_EXECUTABLE.

Continue after an interruption

Read PLAN.md, then the latest entry in WORK_LOG.md. Check git status --short and run the existing tests before changing behavior. Local servers may stop between sessions; use the commands above to restart them. No commits or remote pushes have been created yet.

Artwork

First concept: The stranded walker, v1, generated with the built-in image tool. Exact prompt · Review notes.

Scene Concept Exact prompt

2 — The crossing Image Prompt
3 — A place at the table Image Prompt

Scene 2 and 3 generation notes. Both use the approved first image as an explicit image reference through the built-in image tool.

Runtime art derivatives and prompts include the clean background, transparent traveler, and repaired scene. Runtime images live in public/art/; the original concepts remain in art/concepts/.

Crossing production art and prompts cover the clean landing and illuminated arch. Exact route symbols are authored in code and shared by the notebook, controls, and scene.
